JUMFIDENTIAL

sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

Sir William Feel's Confidential despatch of the 14th kay,

1935 on the subject of the Report of the Economic

Commission, and to refer to the request in paragraph 3 of

the despatch for approval to make a grant, with the consent

of the Legislative Council, to the proposed Hong Kong Travel

Association up to a sum of 25,000 per annum, for the next

three years, as recommended in,aragraph 4 of the Travel Association Committee's Report, should it be decided to set

up such an association.

In my telegram No:74 of the 5th June 1935, I have

already approved the submission to the Legislative Council

of a supplementary vote of $25,000 in respect of the

current financial year. As regards the provision to be

aade in the Estimates for 1936 and 1937, however, I should

be obliged if you would consider whether it is not possible

and desirable that the Government contribution to the

Association should be on a less generous scale. & ben

the time comes to make such provision in the Estimates

you should first submit a further recommendation to me as

to any bun which it may be proposed to include.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obedient,

THE OFFICER ADMINISTERING

THE GOVERNMENT OF

HONG KONG

humble servant,

(§§a.) MALCOLM MacDONALD
